Real accidents of vehicles with EST Crash Buffers

Electric locomotive

Shunting collision between two four-axle electric locomotives of Railion / DB (Class 185.2 and Class 140) in autumn of 2007. The vehicles collided in a curve, so that the crash function of just one EST deformation system G1.A1 was activated. The deformation system deformed in the planned manner and prevented all structural damages for both locomotives (actio = reactio). No derailment occured.

Duplex G1.A1 that deformed in the planned manner and is easy to replace)
remained entirely free of damage
